 | UT-800 Series Numerical Protection Relay  (click:2252)
       UT-800 series numerical protection relay, developed by Zhuhai Unitech Power Technology Co., Ltd. based on the abundant operation experiences of UT99 (+), UT300 and UT-600 series relays and according to the requirements of China Power System, is a new generation product with high reliability. It integrates protection, measurement, control, monitoring, communication, event log, fault record and anti-misoperation functions into a whole. Not only can it combine with JOYO series integrated operating system to complete the functions of control, protection, anti-misoperation interlocking, but also can independently realize the protection, measurement and monitoring functions in medium- and small-sized unattended substations of 110kV and below or that for medium and low voltage sides in substations of 220kV and above. It can be installed decentralizedly on the site or grouped into a panel.

1. Redundancy design
The transformer main protection adopts “protection + startup” redundancy design idea for CPU to avoid protection misoperation caused by the damage of a single hardware. Diifferential protection principle is mature and has good anti-TA saturation ability, which can effectively prevent differential protection misoperation caused by TA saturation under external fault.
2. Distributed design
The UT-800 relay, which can be installed decentralizedly onto the switchgear cabinet or grouped into a panel, integrates protection, measurement, control and communication functions into a whole. Thus simplifying the control circuit design and saving a lot of secondary cables. The use of the device not only saves the cost, but improves reliability and maintainability and reduces accidents as well.
3. Standardized design
The device adopts 4U standard case with its structure being of popular modular post-plug, and its circuit design of strong universality and good interchangeability. It is easy to maintain and upgrade. And the most advanced industrial real-time multi-task operating system and an open-ended protocol library are used to greatly enhance its interconnection capability.
4. High measurement accuracy
The device adopts high-precision high-speed AD conversion chip, 24-point synchronous sampling and frequency tracking technology, providing a good solution to the problem of measuring accuracy --- the measuring current and voltage is of Class 0.2 and the electricity degree of Class 0.5.
5. Strong anti-interference ability
5.1 The device adopts multi-level isolation and good shielding measures - a variety of anti-interference measures have been fully taken into account from its case to PCB design and to choice of parts. The application of sophisticated surface mount technology and the production process strictly complying with ISO9000: 2000 enables the device to have excellent electromagnetic compatibility and high reliability of on-site operation. Group panel does not need any external interference measures, which simplifes the design and maintenance. The device is able to withstand the fast transient disturbance test at severity level 4 under the condition without any filter components added to its external.
5.2 Heavy current binary input: 110V or 220V
5.3 Watchdog, software trap and other technologies are used for the software design of the device to ensure its self-reset capability.
 
6. Powerful network communications
The communication software uses real-time multi-task vxWorks operating system as its basic software platform to build a high-reliability system which can not only seamlessly connect with the monitoring system of Unitech but also work with various types of monitoring systems of other manufacturers.
6.1 Universality: The communication software is a universal software that adapts to all UT-800 series relays, and it is completely independent of protection software.
6.2 Zero configuration: The communications software can, without needing to be configured on the site, transmit all kinds of protect information to the background or communication unit.
6.3 Various communication interfaces: Two Ethernet ports or two RS485 ports.
6.4 Abundant standard communication protocol libraries: IEC60870-101, IEC60870-103, and IEC60870-104.
 
7. Perfect fault record function
The device has the capacity of storing the records of no less than 16 fault events in a non-vola­tile memory. The fault record can be triggered by the alarm signal or the pick up signal of a protection element. Each record includes important analog and digital data – both for fault process and three cycles before the fault occures. By default, record data includes current, voltage, frequency, phase angle, binary inputs, binary outputs, the start times of the protection elements, the setting values of the protection, time stamp, etc. which greatly benefit faults analysis and events playback. It has the following features: permanent preservation of fault records after power failure, a variety of recording startup modes, compatible with COMTRADE for facilitating fault playback, human-oriented PC recording analysis software to make analysis more convenient and easier.
8. Flexible combination of functions and good expandability
The software system uses C++ programming to implement object-oriented programming techniques. It has strong modularization, configuration flexibility and scalability.
9. The telecontrol test function makes telesignaling contraposition and SOE events automatic triggering realized.

12. High-resolution user-friendly graphical Chinese display interface and an online help system, the display content are abundant, visual and friendly.
13. Full Chinese information printing supporting local/remote output mode selection enabes on-site debugging and operation more convenient, and the device operations can be viewed clearly.
14. Application of a new type of anti-tripping circuit
The traditional anti-tripping circuit is of voltage action and current hold mode in which the anti-tripping relay is selected according to the tripping and closing current of switch, while applied to the actual project, this circuit presents tedious and error-prone, moreover, some imported switches have very small tripping and closing current for which this mode seems not reliable enough yet. A new type of anti-tripping circuit with the tripping and closing current of switch being of self-adaptive between 0.3A and 8A is adopted. It is suitable for all the operation mechanisms of 110kV and below without considering the tripping and closing current of switch, and features wide scope of application and easy to use.
15. Combined with the remote control interlock controller
The device, through working with the remote control interlock controller of our company, realizes the independent interlocking function of remote closing and remote opening, really preventing misoperation during remote control operation.
16. Self-adaptive GPS clock synchronization, including second pulse, minute pulse, and IRIG-B synchronization.
17. Soft strap and hard strap management
The perfect soft strap management function meets the requirement for remotely controlling strap in an unattended substation.
18. Setting value management
There are up to 16 sets of setting values. Setting value and strap being separately managed is more suitable to the running habit.
